Who We Are
Simply put - we are a group of people living out the radical inclusion of Jesus... together. We know there are a lot of people who have been wounded by the church, or are skeptical of the church, or have their doubts about faith... because that's where many of us have come from. Jesus was known for the company he kept. People complained because he shared his table with "notorious sinners," partied with tax collectors, befriended people of other ethnic groups, touched people everyone else called untouchable, and welcomed people with bad reputations. Every one of them found a home with Jesus. That's what we are striving to create. We work really hard to create a safe space and a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere. If you are looking for a place to belong, we are confident you'll find it here. No matter who you are. The first thing you'll see when you walk in our doors are the words "Welcome Home." We mean it.
Why We’re Here
Our Vision Statement says that CCC exists to create a home for those who have given up on church. If you’ve been wounded or excluded by the church, we want you to know you will find unconditional welcome, acceptance, and inclusion here. If you’re not sure what you think of this whole church thing, please know that we get it. We’ve got our own doubts and questions. If you’ve gone to church your whole life, but sometimes still wonder what the whole point is - you’re our kind of people!

Authenticity
This is a place where you can bring your baggage, your vices, your struggles, your doubts, your fears, and your flaws. We bring ours. When we are free to be real, we are more likely to encounter the real Jesus.
How we “do” church
People often ask questions about some of the ways we live out our faith together as a church. Here are some ways we put faith into practice.
Worship
Worship isn’t just what we do in worship services. For us, worship is about striving to live out the Way of Jesus in everything we do. But worship is specifically what we do in our services on Thursdays and Sundays. We see worship as the act of giving God our undivided attention. At the beginning of our services, you’ll often hear us say that we know we all come from different places and show up carrying all kinds of hard things. We invite God to meet each of us right where we are and to help us take a step closer to Christ.
Being Presbyterian
We are a part of the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. While we are a rather unique PCUSA church, we are grateful for that denominational connection. It creates a level of oversight and accountability that ensures we are as healthy a church as we can be. Our denomination’s polity also shapes many of the structures of our church, including how we select and ordain pastors, elders, and deacons. Our leaders are nominated and elected by the congregation. And our pastors and elders share in the responsibilities of church leadership, each informing and supporting the other.
Being inclusive
When we look at the Bible, we notice an arc towards inclusion. Jesus included those that the religious people of his day wouldn’t touch. He called them disciple, child of God, beloved. At the table of God, there is room for everyone. We try to follow that example of Jesus and that arc of the Bible. We like to say it this way: any person is eligible to participate in every aspect of the life of our church, be it marriage, communion, leadership, all the way through ordination as deacons, elders, and pastors. When we say all are welcome, it isn’t a welcome so that we can get you to change. It’s a welcome with no strings attached.
Kids in worship
We want the children in our church to know that they are a part of the church right now, not just once they reach adulthood. We also believe it is important for children to be familiar and comfortable with worship. As such, families start out together in the sanctuary during worship services. After a few songs and a children’s message, kids leave for Kids Church where they get to have age appropriate lessons and fun. On the third Sunday of each month, we bring the children back in to the sanctuary to rejoin their families for communion. All of this means that sometimes its a bit noisy in the sanctuary. We’ve simply decided that this is the sound of life and we’re grateful for it. As we’ll often say during a service - parents are not allowed to feel bad if their kids are noisy. There’s nowhere else we’d rather them be!
Baptism
Baptism is one of the two sacraments of our Presbyterian theology. We baptize adults, teens, children, or infants. It is a reminder for us that God has called us his own long before we ever choose to love God in return. We don’t believe that baptism is necessary for salvation. Instead, we see baptism as a sign and a seal of the inner work of God in our hearts and souls. Baptism points to our forgiveness through Christ and it reminds us that we are raised to life with Christ. We baptize through sprinkling, pouring, or full immersion, as requested by parents or by the one being baptized. We also recognize and honor any baptism done in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Communion
Communion is one of the two sacraments of our Presbyterian theology. Communion reminds us of the humble and selfless sacrifice of Jesus who was broken that we might be made whole. Communion also points us towards a God who will go to any length to ensure us that we know we are loved, forgiven, and accepted. We practice open communion, which means that all are welcome to participate. Children are also welcome to take communion as soon as their parents are comfortable with them doing so. We usually share communion through intinction, which simply means dipping a piece of bread into a cup of juice before eating that bread.
Elders
Copper Creek Church is also led by a group of elders who are elected by the congregation.
Accordingly, in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), ruling elders are called to “provide for the church’s worship and encourage the people’s participation” (Book of Order, W-2.0303).
This group of elders is called our SESSION. Elders serve 3 year terms. Each year, 3 elders rotate off and 3 new elders are elected by the congregation to serve the church. These hard working and deeply caring church members are available to answer any questions you might have about the church.
Deacons
The Deacons of Copper Creek Church exist to minister to those in need, to the sick, to the friendless and to any who may be in distress both within and beyond the community of faith.(from The Book of Order of the Presbyterian Church, G-6.0401-02)

What To Expect
What am I walking into?
We see our worship services as a chance to turn our attention to God and to be reminded that God is with us, God is for us, and God is good! Our worship services are about an hour in length. There are 4 or 5 songs scattered through the service. Lyrics are projected on the screens so you can sing along and engage with worship however you feel most comfortable. Kids start the service with their families and then leave for Kids Church during the 9 and 10:30am Sunday services. Then, one of our pastors will share an encouraging and hope-filled message about Jesus. The message is the same at all 3 services, with our Thursday Night service kicking off the weekend.
What can I plan on?
- Dress Code: Come as you are! Jeans? flip flops? t-shirt? Yep – and that’s just our pastor.
- A warm welcome: The first thing you’ll see is a friendly face to greet you. The next thing you’ll notice are the words WELCOME HOME! We mean it!
- Great music: Our band plays a mix of old hymns and new songs, all with a contemporary music that ranges from acoustic to rock!
- COFFEE!: We’ve got tea and coffee available at our self serve coffee station before and during Sunday worship services. Show up early and you can also pick up a specialty espresso drink at our Cafe! You are more than welcome to bring your drink into the sanctuary with you. We encourage you to bring your own travel mug.
What about my kids?
Our Kids Church program (for preschool - 5th grade) happens during both our 9am and 10:30am services on Sundays. We want kids to know that they are already a part of the church and we want them to feel like "big church" is a place they belong. So we have kids from preschool - 5th grade start the morning in the sanctuary with the adults. After a few songs and a children's message, the kids are dismissed and go with the teachers to Kid's Church in the Creek (our kids wing). We make it a priority for your kids to have a great time learning about Jesus!
The other thing we make a priority is your children’s safety. Because of that, we have a detailed check-in process for our Kids Church program the first time that you visit. You’ll want to leave yourself an extra 5 minutes to get signed in for the Kids Church. Once you have completed that information, during future visits the check in process is quick and easy.
Last thing: don’t worry!
We won’t make you stand up or wear a special name tag. There’s absolutely no pressure to join anything or participate in any specific way. You can stay anonymous as long as you would like. But we hope you will feel safe and welcome enough that eventually you’ll give us the chance to get to know you. You are the reason we do all this! Thanks for giving us the chance to tell you, "Welcome Home!"
